The largest sections of both poles (I ordered two) were badly cracked with a split running almost the entire length of the sections. I have so far salvaged one rod out of two by wrapping the split section with electrical tape. I have had the same versions of these poles many years and they are still in good condition. Don't know why these were defective.

I was tired of my kids having problems with fishing reels so I decided to try to find them cane poles like the ones I used in Georgia as a kid. I couldn't find any locally so I went with these mail order poles even though it was clear from reviews they would not be as sturdy. As expected, they are flimsier than the ones I used as a kid. I had to work on them a bit to get the two pieces to stay together more firmly. For the price, though, I can't complain. And more important, my kids are catching fish.

I recieved my cane poles and was unpleasantly suprised. They were about a half inch thinner than my poles that I usually use, the part where they connect comes off the place that it is supposed to be stationary, not to mention that they regularly fall apart. I have fished with cane poles for years and years and unfortunately these are not up to par. There is no way I could catch more than a bluegill with them.
