Incredibly strong, and a powerful value! The incredibly powerful Bass Pro Shops® Brawler Casting Rods feature a Triple Bonded Hybrid Blank.  The 24-ton slit carbon core provides backbone, action, and sensitivity;  then a layer of 8-ton E-glass adds incredible strength and flexibility; and finally, an 8-ton E-glass spiral wrap shields the exterior for unheard-of durability. All this means unbelievable strength combined with just the right amount of flexibility to give you a series of all-purpose rods that you'll have to fish to believe. The solid fiberglass, high-vis white tip is durable and responsive, and the full EVA handles reduce weight and increase comfort. Tough, slick aluminum oxide guides top off these value-priced fish-whippers.

  • Triple bonded hybrid blank
  • Solid Hi Vis shock-absorbing fiberglass tip
  • Slit Carbon core
  • Full EVA handle

good rod I feel like this will be a good rod and I needed a few more to replace old and wore out ones. I bought this with a gift card. It is a BPS rod and is a ok price. For what I got for less than 35 dollars it is not bad. I wish BPS had some at that price that was fast action but this will do. I have not used it yet but I feel confident in BPS rods I used them back in the 1980's when I fish a lot of tournaments and they hailed up very well and that was when most rods were pistol grip. Buy it you will like it they are good solid rods. August 23, 2014
Good buy and purchase I prefer the I6 graphite from BPS and own several of those but these were a really good price and reviews were good so bought a couple for backups . Used them both once to check them out and really happy with the rods. November 27, 2013
Surprised - smile I thought I ordered the two piece 6' rod but made a mistake and ordered the 6'6 one piece. For $20, I decided to keep it. I compared it to my 7' Ugly stick and it's a close fit. I can't expect the same sensitivity as my other rods but for the price, heck, I just ordered the 2pc I originally meant to order and I'll keep this one as a backup. I think the 6' medium action will be a bit more sensitive. June 14, 2013
Fast Action breakdown rod I purchased this rod so I can transport it in a broken down mode. It still has the action I demand and is very functional. June 14, 2013

Staff Answer
A:
If fishing braid for sensitivity, just use the mono equivalent size of whatever the rod is rated for. In other words find a braid with a diameter of 8-20 mono for example if the rod is rated for that mono range. 50# or 65# with a hammered down drag is asking to damage something. Fished with a drag adjusted like you would fishing mono or a tiny bit higher and things should be ok.
