A:
We do not recommend using a freshwater reel in saltwater. The saltwater could dramatically reduce the life of the reel. Thank you!

Push the side-cover release and take the side cover off. This will allow you to remove the spool. you can then clean and oil the real and reassemble.

A:
There's a button/lever on the base of the palm plate (opposite side from reel handle). Just push this lever down and twist palm plate downward. Then, turn the brake selection disc to the desired setting (0, 2,4, o 6)...the higher the number, the greater the breaking.

this real holds about 150 yards of 12 and around 180 yards of 10 depending on how you like your real. i dont like to completely fill the spools to the max because i think backlashes are easier to get and harder to get out.

I really like Power Pro 20lb Moss Green Braided line and it's been very productive for catching many multi-species of fish.

i would suggest size 12 or 14 size monofilament line with stretch to it. threaded lines tend to rip the bait away from the fish easier.

I have 3 of these reels. I use mostly Suffix on them. It works well with any line weights I've tried. I have one setup with 8 lb< one with 12 lb, and one with 15 lb. The heavier the line the less distance unless using a very heavy lure. I did have braid on one but have never been a fan of braid so guess I didn't give it a fair chance, but I wasn't impressed! Love the reels though. Best thing I learned was to loosen the drag completely when in storage.
