Rated 2 out of 5 by Never buy a micro guide spinning rod This rod is light-weight and very well balanced. It feels great and does awesome at handling bass. Even looks fantastic! (As my wife says "it's pretty") I bought a 7ft for bass fishing with wacky rig and shaky head presentations. Here's the catch... It casts terrible! You get no distance at all and it makes a terrible noise. This is because the guides are actually too small for a spinning reel. In case anyone doubts this review here's my setup: the rod + Penn Spinnfisher + Seaguar InvisX10lb fluorocarbon line. It's definitely not the line or the reel, as both worked perfectly on a different rod. The rod blank is great so buy the version with normal guides. I will be trading mine in at Basspro when they offer the opportunity again. April 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by tpaterson97 Love this rod. Very lite and sensitive. I have used it to catch smallmouth bass. Works like at champ. Well worth the money. October 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Product I bought a 7ft medium action for fishing a shaky heady.First day I took it out I caught a 6lb largemouth on a strike king river bug with ease. I own Shimano, St Croix, Daiwa, Bass Pro and Wright & McGill rods but for the money this by far is the best I have ever used! It has a slick look, amazing backbone, and great sensitivity/design. Only complaint I have, is the very last eye on most all of the rods in store Ive seen are slightly twisted, but when your using the rod you can't tell a deference. May 15, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Guides too small Bought this rod and returned it. It's balanced well, light, and feels great when jigging for bass, but the line guides were too small. When paired with my Shimano 4000 reel, the bail on my reel was too big for the lowest guide ring on the rod. When I cast, it sounds like a helicopter taking off as the line rubs the small guides. The added resistance here shortened my casts significantly. I tried my small Daiwa 1500 reel on it, and it had less "helicopter" effect through the guides, but it was still present, and still reduced casting distance compared to my other rod. This reel was too small for the rod anyways. If you can actually go to a BPS store, I'd try pairing one or two of your reels with this rod and casting in the parking lot first. If repeated casting and distance isn't as important, its probably a great rod. May 3, 2013
