For those times that you need a little weight and do not want to retie, these do the trick. Comes in different sizes. Can be reused, over and over. Can be cut, easily, to preferable size. Have used nails, in the past, but these are heavier.
Downfall, if there is one, is that in a worm, even a 10" Power Worm, they will tend to tear it up a little, by poking an additional hole into them, but, that is no big deal.

This is the best way to add a little extra weight to a bait without having to use a slip weight and peg, you can cut the weight get the fall rate you want and you can insert it anywhere in the bait to get the fall action you want

These weights are a practical idea and are easy to use. I use them not so much to improve my casting distance, but more to improve my fall rate so that my plastics sink faster. Make sure that when using a Texas rigged bait you put the nail weight in between the point of the hook and the eye of the hook, between the two contact points of the hook and the worm so that it doesn't affect the action of the bait.
