I was in the market for a nylon cast net...and walking through the BPS in Grapevine presented several options. The decision was between this net (5' model) and the Old Salt in the same size. I'd read the reviews, so I thought I'd save the 20 bucks and go with the BPS model...looks like that was a mistake.
After taking it out of the package and checking for any holes (there weren't any), I ran down to the lake to give it a practice throw or two. Net threw great. Brought it home and dried it out, didn't want to put it up wet. Today, prepping for a trip to the lake, I got out the net and gave it a once over...and found five or six holes. It looks like the net is coming apart at the "seams" so to speak. As this is my only net, I've done some rudimentary repairs to it...but it'll be going back to BPS as soon as I'm in the neighborhood. Maybe I got a bad one...but for as much as these nets are, invest a little extra and get a different make.

I purchased this net after destroying my 6 ft 3/8" net on an oyster bar. I went with the 1/4 mesh size due to the size of the bait that i am after and i got tired of pulling them out of the 3/8 mesh.
After getting it home and checking it out, i noticed some issues with the net.
1. The weights do not appear to be made out of plastic. I had to file a little nipple off of each weight because the net kept getting caught in them while trying to load the net. I believe these nipples were caused by the molding process during the manufacturing process.
2. Because of the tight mesh and the insufficient weight of the plastic, the net sinks very slowly and tends to miss a lot of the bait. If there is a current you can forget about filling the net.
This net is better suited for the lake than saltwater.
