I use the red aberdeen hooks.OK the red coating does ware off, but these hooks never rust. I use the size 6 hooks in the surf for kingfish (both northern and southern, also called whiting and sea mullet). Also, they are good for white perch in brackish along with spot, croaker (hardhead) ,and they are good for yellow perch too. Making your own rigs using 15 pound test will give good results.

I like that the gold actually looks gold and I find that important when fishing. My grandfather told me to always use a gold hook when fishing and these hooks have good color and shine.

They are sharp but, that is the only good thing I found about them. The plating for the red hooks flakes off with little or no effort. The metal is much too brittle. I have only used them on crappie. I had one break just below the eye. I will buy american made hooks befor I go fishing again.

FYI- This hook has an eye. However, you might search online for vidoes by search key word "tying eyeless hooks".1 of 1
