needed alterations While it works excellent on large split rings, it's too large to fit through the hole on small split rings. I modified it by grinding down the bottom to a smaller size. Works great now. March 29, 2012
Do not, never ever buy First review for me, background for me, many years of fishing. Internet provides a way to buy a lot of cheap lures. Cheap lures = shipped with no hooks. Needed a tool to help with split rings/hook insertion. Bought this at store. BAD CALL. 1. The point is too big to split a ring. 2. Dont buy, using a pair of long nose pliers would work 10x better. If you buy this, you are wasting your money. Some tools are less effective but you can still use them. This tool, if purchased, will become the most useless tool in you tacklebox. v/r MIT PHD, you have been warned December 28, 2011
Very Dissapointed I had several baits that I wanted to replace and change out hooks on. Normally I do this with my fingernails and an o-ring pick which works beautifully compared to these pliers. Save your money and aggravation by not purchasing these pliers. December 23, 2010
Don't work Sorry, but these are just as ineffective as the lite models. My conclusion is that there is no way to do it effectively that doesn't involve damaged fingernails. October 31, 2010
