These pliers do exactly what they're supposed to do. They make switching out hooks a snap. I should have bought a pair of these years ago!

I purchased these to replace a set my friend lost. I tried them and couldn't get them to work except once, with a loud snap. I pulled mine out--also from BP but not available now. The rings separated easily and I could grab them to turn. My old set has groove for the "splitter" to fit into. I'm not sure why they changed (about same price), but the new one I got was bad, and will be returned.

This is a nice set of split ring pliers. Works really well with a size 2 splitring and will work, with a little patience with a size 1. I wish the anvil side was a little thinner and shorter then it would work great with the size 1.
