I was in BPS Hampton, Va. yesterday and saw these rods for a great deal. I bought 2 of them and went fishing. I have never seen nor tried for a musky but these rods worked great in saltwater fishing for tautog. For those who are unfamiliar,tog they are hard running down deep fighters, with a sensative bight. The rod had enough backbone to handle 6-8oz of lead and still get them out of the rocks/wreckage,as well as a light enough tip to feel their soft nibble. This rod landed several Tog in the 5lb range and 1 in the 12. Great investment. going to purchase a couple more.

Hooked up with 2 nice cats the first day out with these rods, 50lb, 45lbs.. Was very impressed with the strong backbone of these rods.. Paired up with the BPS Catmax baitcasting reels, they make a great combo.. wont leave home without them..

I fished for 3 days and caught 2 tigers (38" and 32"). It worked just as well as the St. Croix rod costing 5 times as much. The rod loads up well and has good sensitivity. The only thing I could ask for would be a hook keeper. I also used it for flat line trolling walleyes and it worked well for that as well.

Great value rod for throwing hair! This rod preforms as well as rods costing more than double the price.

I'm also 14 and I fish muskies all the time. However I would recomend buying a slightly higher quality rod. The first reason is that you probably want a rod of at least eight feet for musky fishing. The best choice would be a St. Croix. They are much more durable and more comfortable to fish. As for a reel, try abu garcia. They are great for the price and extremely durable. I believe the 6'3'' is strong enough for trolling its very stiff. but i recommend pairing it with a reel with a clicker and setting the drag just right where current and speed of boat wont take drag. but hooking a fish will.A:Â

I paired it with Shimano Corvalus CVL401 and it Looks Sexy.. the reel color matches with the rod nicely.

I'm not sure about the first guestion, but I can answer the second one. It probably wouldn't affect the performmance of the rod, but I wouldn't recomend doing that unless you have special tools and can do a very good job. Also, most muskie rods don't have an exposed blank near the trigger for two reasons. The first is that when fishing with large muskie baits, it really wouldn't do much for the sensitivity and the second reason is that most muskie fisherman hold the rod by the foregrip. Even if you prefer holding the rod by the handle, when throwing muskie lures, you will probably end up using the foregrip anyway since it is much less tiring with huge lures. Anyway, it wouldn't change the rods performance to carve into the handle, but I wouldn't recomend it. Hope thie was helpful.Answers

I would not suggest this rod for trolling for muskys. It would be great for walleye and maybe even pike but it is not long enough or strong enough for musky trolling

It would work for pike, but it would be best to put a little more money into it and get a browning medallion muskie rod or even a st. croix. Hope this was helpul.
