Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for the price We have a 18 foot boat and it works great no problems here. The price is also great too and it seems to be built pretty strong. June 29, 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by great product great product for the price. good quality constuction. works perfect June 17, 2008
Rated 3 out of 5 by Okay I guess I got this replace a winch that would not hold a 20' strap. The self locking device does not work at all. It does lock when I am done pulling the boat but will not keep the boat from slipping backards while reeling it in. My boat is really light and I don't see me ever needing to take a break while winching it in but there are all those what ifs that probably won't happen. I should have taken it back for one that worked properly and take it upon myself to say no product is perfect and niether am I. February 26, 2008
Rated 4 out of 5 Nice winch Well built for the money. Smooth and sturdy. I do wish the hook was a bit larger. My boat bow eye is thick and the spring clasp on the hook is a bit tough to go on. All in all, it's a good buy. September 10, 2007

Universal Instructions: Look for the bolt on in the drum the one closest to the center of the drum. The bolt and nut that came with the winch use this hole. You will want to have the strap with the sewed side down.

Run the bolt through the first hole, only slightly, then through the loop in the strap, and then out the other side of the drum. Secure nut tight enough to eliminate the side-to-side play of the bolt. Over tightening might damage the item.

All you have to do next is rotate the drum to reel in the strap. The strap should pay out from the top away from the handle end.

I hope this works!

A:
Yes this winch comes with a strap. The strap is quality. The winch strap is pre assembled from the factory, all you need to do is bolt the winch to brakets on you frame and bolt on the handle. This winch has a reversable locking mechanism so you can virtually mount it in any position and it will lock down for you. just pull the strap out all the way and crank it back in.

A:
It's one nut installation if you don't have that nut you will have to get a replacement.

A:
Just remove the large nut with the nylon locking threads put the handle on so the handle sticks out to the side put the nut back on and make sure its snug, but do not over torque the nut. High torque is not needed, just snug it up tight so the handle does not wobble.
