Big predators can’t resist the tantalizing action of the Mag Deal Sealer Spinner from Bass Pro Shops! Here’s a lure that delivers outstanding value AND outstanding performance. Extremely effective at "sealing the deal" on figure 8's, the Bass Pro Shops XPS Mag Deal Sealer Spinner performs best when a steady retrieve is applied. Use a faster retrieve in sparse cover to force fish to react and strike without examining the lure. Use a slower retrieve in heavy cover to allow fish to locate and attack the lure.
Muskies often follow lures and can be triggered to strike at the boat by executing a proper figure 8 maneuver. Smoothly transition your rod tip below the water’s surface, draw a wide "L" along and away from the boat, curve back toward the boat, and complete a figure 8 in the water. Make wide, slower turns and speed up on the straight-aways. Strikes typically occur after a fish builds up speed on the straight-away and catches up on the turn. If a strike occurs, try to set the hook back against the fish’s momentum. Some anglers disengage the spools on their baitcasting reels and use their thumbs for spool tension to have more control over a hooked fish. If a fish continues to track the lure without striking, gradually increase overall speed until the fish loses interest or strikes. Repetition and muscle memory are major keys to this technique. Performing the maneuver after every cast increases the odds of successful execution when a fish appears.
Add a pinched-off grub tail to the rear hook of the XPS Deal Sealer for extra action or scent attraction. Fully spooling your reel and switching to a power handle maximizes speed and ease of retrieve when using high drag lures.
