Barnett Vortex Compound Bow Package for Youth
Great starter bow
I bought this bow for my 9 year old daughter who has outgrown the little $20 green bow I got her earlier this year. I replaced the mediocre arrow rest with a Whisker Biscuit, and it works great. This bow is easy to adjust with the replaceable cams, and the allen wrenches all come with it. The arrows are not great, but they work fine. I had the guys at Basspro put a nock loop on and serve the string, so she could use a release, which works great. She has shot about 50 arrows through it in the last 2 days, and so far it performs flawlessly and has plenty of power to keep her going for a while!!

I purchased this bow new for my 10 year old son to hunt. The bow is supposed to be capable of reaching hunting draw weights with a short draw length, but this is not the case. I have been to two bow shops, and neither shop has been able to reach the draw weights advertised. I would not recommend this product as a first bow for hunting deer.

My son is 11. He is too big and too mature to want a watered down bow. Yet everyone knows that kids can be fickle about a new hobby. This bow is the answer. It feels like a real bow, looks like a real bow, and shoots like a real bow but at a fraction of the cost. No puny ypith bow here, Great starting point for a pre-teen.

OK for the price
Better bows are twice the price. This bow performs well but there are some minor issues. First the arrows are junk. Second it does have a wide range on the draw length and weight but the weight is tied to the draw length (for most this won't be and issue). There is an adjustment of 3-4lbs per inch of draw. You can't get the max draw weight until you have the max draw length and the same goes for draw length. If your child has a longer draw but not the strength yet it can only be lowered a few pounds.
That said it performs well for a starter bow. I have 2 boys and they are at the extream of each end. I put in the "B" modual for the younger and he pulls the max weight for that length but can't move up until he gets a longer draw. The older one uses the "F" modual and max's out the weight, so it works for both with a 10-15 minute change of moduals. Performance is OK at the shorter draws but much much better when at max. after a few adjustments and some carbon arrows I was pleased. **For the price it's a good one to learn with and once at max weight you could hunt with it.
