Barnett Recruit Crossbow Package
Excellent Value for the Money
After months of research, I decided that the Barnett Recruit. For the money, this is by far the best choice available.
First I want to address the comments about the red dot scope. It is adequate; not the best I've ever used but again for the money, it will work just fine for hunting both small and large game. I'm pleased with it's accuracy, size and ease of installation.
The trigger is well made with a minimal amount of movement and a 3 to 5 lb. pull. The stock is adjustable, so not only is it comfortable for me, but it allows my wife to use it comfortably as well. The stock is thin, well constructed. The arms are a mere 18" across before it's cocked, so this bow won't get snagged in the brush. With a weight of 6.5 lbs. this bow it a great choice for backpackers. Barnett is famous for it's crossbows and this one is no exception. It is easy to use and hold for extended periods of time and would be perfect in tight quarters. I already have several crossbows and I'm really excited about using this bow in the upcoming hunting season.

Blind and stand friendly
Bought this for my grandsons. The safety features were a factor in my choice. The adjustable stock means that I can shoot it as well. It seems fast although I have not clocked it. Short and narrow makes it blind and stand friendly. Noise level is moderate. Balance is good - a lot better than most, and it is fairly light. Trigger has small amount of creep, but it is not bad at 3-4 lbs. I think the narrow limbs cost it a little in accuracy because it is difficult to cock evenly, but accuracy is fine for deer hunting out to at least 40 yards.. Mine came with the red/green dot site that I tossed and replaced with a scope.

Great Bow for the Hunt
With the narrow limbs and light wt this is the perfect bow for deer hunting. Safety is very quiet. The 3 dot scope is great, you can choose red or green dots and set your light intensity. Low light condition require dim dots or it can wash the target out. First shot out of the box was low and right but was on the small target at 20 yds. After zero, dead on bullseye at 20yds (top dot) and 30 yds (middle dot.) Shot over several days and after each hunt. Bullseye each time, from both ground and tree stand. Make sure you use 100 grain broadheads. Package includes field tips. Great value for the price. Even comes with string wax.

I purchased this bow new and went out for an early morning hunt with my new Recruit. Within an hour and a half, six deer came through right on path. I aimed right on, and fired. The bow sounded like a shotgun blast and the string broke sending my arrow spiraling a mile off target. I get out of the blind and turn the corner of my garage, and the same deer circled around and were standing right in front of me, all broadside and I had a brand new broken bow. Took it to have it checked out, the front branch was tightened but still had a ton of play, and the string defective. I would not recommend this bow to anyone. The employee said he has had many Recruits in for service already this season and it is a brand new bow on the market.. DO NOT BUY
