I participated in a management draw hunt this weekend and took two deer. The first show was about 45 yards and the second one was about 75 yards. Both deer dropped right where they stood. Both shots were clean pass thru's which CVA Optima using two IMR white hots (100 gr total). Overall I was very satisfied with the results and impressed that neither deer took a step after being shot. The only question in my mind is how much of a blood trail would have been left as the exit didn't seem very large. But then again as I said neither took a step from where they were shot so you can't argue with that. They do load easily and are acurate.

I've shot power belt, shockwaves, and hornady. I decided to try Barnes for a better kill. I shoot a t/c encore and all brands grouped well @ 100 yds. However, I would wonder why on a good shot I'd have to track deer further than I thought I should. Then I read that Barnes do not fragment like the others. This is true. I will be sticking to Barnes from now on.

I shot these bullets for the first time about a year and a half ago. I own a Thompson Center Encore Pro Hunter. I was shooting bonded shockwaves through it. They were okay, but this past year I shot at 6 deer and 6 deer died. The only one that did not hit the ground where it stood was the buck I shot. This is only because it was a pass through double lung about 245 yds. away. I shoot 100 grains LOOSE 777 FFg. Nothing but problems out of pellets. anyway, I sight in about 2 1/4" high at 50 yds., dead on at 100. The ballistic chart says at around 250 you have somewhere near around 2 ft. of drop. I aimed with my horizontal scope crossbar on the deer's nose. Boom, all you could hear was the gun go off, and a split second later you heard the WHACK of the bullet hitting him. After running 40 yards across the field he hit the ground. I know at least 5 people that shoot the 250 Gr. Expander MZ and they all say their deer hit the ground asap. If you have a problem with these bullets there's a few reasons: your gun doesn't like them, your over/under powering them with powder (my friend shoots 80 grain of powder and kills deer 150 yds), or your gun was made before thompson center started making the QLA to load these bullets. Mine was made with QLA and it is still a VERY tight fit, but that is what creates accuracy. If you shoot a Knight rifle, shoot these, you will not be disappointed. My Pro Hunter and I LOOOOVE them, but deer do not. (they are also much more ethical if a deer is dead before it hits the ground. If they have one flaw, it is their inability to go through brush. If there's anything but air between you and the deer, don't waste your bullet. However, if not, they are the deadliest bullet on the market.

I have shot Barnes Bullets for several years now in my muzzle loader and my rifle. i killed 2 deer with a 195 gr ''X'' bullet with a .45 cal muzzle loader. both deer dropped in there tracks. one deer was quartering away from me and the bullet went through the ball joint in the back ham and i found it somewhere past the heart. it was a perfect mushroom. they work excellet in rifles to. my son killed 2 deer with his 243. found 1 bullet and it was the same results. perfect mushroom and full wieght retention. the picture is a 243 tsx and 45 mz
