This unique rod will pay for itself in short order, because it makes catching your own live bait (for sails, marlin, dolphin, etc.) with Sabiki Rigs and other multihook setups so quick and easy. It's designed to allow the line to run inside the rod, and features a tapered phenolic cone at the tip; when you're done fishing, simply reel rig and all into the blank for safe, secure storage - with no line damage. The 2-piece, 7'3" E-Glass blank features a durable gloss painted finish and is equipped with stainless steel reel seat hoods, graphite fighting butt, and comfortable EVA grips.

This is a tremendous addition to any fisherman's rod collection. I especially find it most practical when fishing from my kayak or canoe as I can carry several of these rods and not tangle them up. Moving around in a canoe or kayak to untangle rods is not the easiest thing in the world to do. The key to these rods is clean, clean, clean. Wash them out when finished for the day and they will last as long as you want them to. I have a half dozen and nary a problem. Sorry Bass Pro stopped carrying this Daiwai product.

This is a really nice rod. Perfect for bait fishing in the northeast. Just jig a bit slower, since the hollow tube makes it a bit stiffer. I'm surprised that no-ones suggested this, but use a small split shot lead on the end of the line to load it. 1 minute!

a little hard to load with line at first...but once I got the setup correct I was able to cast out and catch bait on almost every cast. Used it twice so far and just about paid for itself

This is a good quality rod. I use it with a small conventional Abu Garcia reel. I have 2 bait rods and this one is better quality and better made than the other "name brand" rod which cost a lot more.

If I were to pair this rod with a Shimano TLD w/ 50 lb line .
Would it do the job?

Not really designed for it. The rod doesn't have a progressive bend like most rods. It should be strong enough, just not the best feel.1 of 1
