Rated 5 out of 5Â by HuntingAZ Nice scouting pack
If you're looking for something akin to a large Camelback pack, here it is. It holds enough water for a full day of hiking in Arizona (even summertime, when you add a couple extra bottles), along with your lunch and whatnot, and has a bit of extra room for your gps, binos, maps, etc.
I've used (abused) one for scouting and hiking for over 2 years in Arizona high country, and it doesn't show any signs of wear yet. All the seams and zippers are still solid. It's a very comfortable pack that holds the weight where I want it , without any jiggling or movement as I'm covering terrain. The straps underneath will secure a SURPRISING amount of extra cargo before becoming cumbersome. With some extra straps, and some outright torture of every external loop, strap, and buckle, I was able to carry about 60 lbs of extra weight over 4 miles to help a solo hunter retrieve his kill. While certainly not what the pack was designed for, it let me carry the weight pretty comfortably, beyond my expectations, for sure.
The only drawback is that there are no pockets (even the side-pockets for water bottles) that are easily accessible while wearing the pack. Pretty much any access requires removing the pack, or asking a buddy. So I end up fastening things to the shoulder straps maybe a bit more than is necessary.
Overall, it's a very sturdy, well-designed, small day pack, that's a great value.
