Great kayak for the money. I am a beginner kayaker, but my friends told me about the Ascend FS12T. I'm 6' tall and weigh 240 lbs. Had little to no water inside the kayak when I pulled it out of the water #had about 2 gallons overnight due to bad storms that rolled through the area though#. Tracked flawlessly and cut through the water perfect. Forgot to put the scupper plugs in the back and got my tackle bag wet #oops#. Would definitely recommend this kayak to anyone who wants to start or upgrade their current one.

its a good kayak to take on lazy water, you will fill it with water if you go threw any type of rapid because the front of is so low, and the water proof compartments don't work, but id buy again im 6ft 4in and 300lb and it holds me just fine,

by redfishstalker buy this kayak!
I bought this kayak after lots of research. I understood its flaws from other reviews going in. I took some preventative measures like re-siliconing the areas others have had leaks (scupper welds, dry storage seals) I have taken it out 6 times and no leaks! (No measurable water in hull, maybe 1 or 2 drops after 3 days on water) I fished the upper and lower laguna madre bay (TX) and the water was never calm. My first trip out was somewhat of a torture test.. 20 mph winds 1.5 hour paddle to destination. Full kayak loaded with fishing gear, camping gear, and water and food for 4 days. The only issue I had was when fully loaded with gear the kayak tended to want to track into the wind. When loaded normally it tracked great even in high winds. I can stand and fish even in minor choppy waves. It is extremely stable. The seat bolts that connect the seat to the rail are slightly bent after several long uses. This is from the back floor brace of the seat frame not sitting on the deck of the kayak. Minor deal. If it gets worse I will support the seat so it makes contact better and be done. This is my first kayak but I have rented and borrowed many different models. For the money this is a great buy. Don't hesitate.

I just purchased this kayak last week. I have been out 1 time on it. I can say that after a very long research of kayaks, this is the best choice. a very good value at $549. nice open deck. I got the blue/white version. I am able to stand or sit sideways on it without worrying about tipping over. very easy to load on top of my 4Runner. I do wish it had a handle on the side for carrying. but I have added them.. very dry ride. Glides nice. buy a 240cm paddle due to width.
