Rated 5 out of 5Â by Carlosmicronesia Good kayak for saltwater.
I am writing from Kosrae island in Micronesia. I ordered this kayak and got it a month ago. I have been practicing on the reefs flats and also went offshore. It tracks and handle small waves very well. The kayak is very stable and the cockpit is large and let me cross the legs. I have caught groupers and emperors on the flats. I have gone beyond the reef to a depth of 300 feet. I really like that I can carry a lot of equipment behind the seat and the sternwell. I fish on Saturdays and one or twice during weekdays. I include a photo of an emperor fish (related to snappers). I am waiting for the weekend to go deep jigging.

The Ascend FS10 is an excellent kayak for a multitude of reasons, and I would recommend it to anyone in search of a great fishing kayak, leisure kayak or any beginner looking to get into kayaking. I'm fairly new to the kayaking world myself and this is my first kayak I've purchased, but I must say the stability (it would take an effort to tip over) and overall comfort level of this kayak is phenomenal. I am 6'4", 185lbs. and I just went on my first 10 hour yak trip with this kayak down our local river and it handled like a dream.
Our local river has a nice flow to it, shallow and rocky in some spots with minimal rapids, but the FS10 moved right along without any hangups. A few friends and I fished numerous spots along the trip and it was a breeze to maneuver in and out of small coves, log jams, etc. A few times I did feel a scrape or two along the bottom, but it wasn't enough to stop me, nor did it put any deep scratches in it. In addition, since I do not have a cart to transport the kayak from water to vehicle, I had to drag the kayak about 100yds. through rocks and sand and again, still no major damage to the kayak, only minor scratching. Having said that, the durability is top notch.
Next, the amount of storage space is unbelievable, and it amazes me that I can find a spot for just about anything I want to take with me, and then some. I won't get into all I carry, but if you are like me and take some extra things that are not necessities and like to rig things yourself, you have plenty of room to do it with this kayak.
Other key features I like about this kayak:
1. small dry storage vault (fits keys, wallet, cell easily with a little extra room for a couple more smaller items)
2. two cup holders (fits a can with koozie perfectly)
3. removable seat (very comfortable in kayak or on land with the ability to adjust reclining positions)
4. two notched areas for holding paddle along with paddle holders on either side of the kayak with bungee straps to secure
5. rod holders (1 up front center very convenient - 2 behind seat on either side)
6. foot pegs that are easily reachable and adjustable
7. overall design/appearance
8. drain plug (good location)
9. trays molded in the dash area (great for holding bait during bait changes)
10. price
Lastly, like other reviews I've read I recommend going with a 245cm paddle. I have not used a smaller one with this kayak but I can tell if I had a shorter paddle I would be hitting the sides more frequently and who needs that kind of stress in their life!
Hope this review helps some of you out in making your selection, but i believe you will not be disappointed with purchasing this kayak.

I am so happy I up graded to this kayak. Everything about it has made fishing easier for me. From the dry well on the dash to seat that I sit in. I can no sit out on the water twice as long with out my hind end hurting or my back. I also stay dryer in this kayak. the nose of the boat seems to splash the water away from you. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Josh84 Best thing I ever bought!
I took this kayak out in rough waters and the stability was excellent! The seat is extremely comfortable and everything is very durable. After 3-4 hours in the water I wasn't sore or aching at all. The convenience of adjusting the foot braces while still on the water is a big plus! I really like the rod holders and cleats. The only 2 cons about this kayak are that is doesn't come with a trolley/anchor system (I installed one) and the back storage tends to easily fill with water (but again I was in rough waters). Overall I am happy with my new FS10!

I have used it outside the reef. It feels very stable. Once I was coming thru a pass in the coral reef and a big wave turn the kayak sideways but did not capsized. The best thing will be to try one so you can decide yourself. I include a picture of the kayak in Lelu Harbor, with the Sleeping Lady in the background.Images for this Answer

that's how I have mine hanging in my garage. the handles are very secure and have not been damaged by hanging the kayak from them.A:Â
YES, easily. They will crease a little bit, but these Boats are known to be pulled behind boats, and ATV’s in the winter by the handles that are thru bolted with SS ¼ “ Bolts. Thanks1 of 1
