Our Ascend kayaks are so popular, we can hardly keep them in stock! And now, the FS10, our feature-packed kayak designed for serious anglers, has been enhanced in multiple ways to make it an even better value. It starts with an advanced hull design that utilizes an extended keel with performance rocker and strakes to deliver the superior maneuverability, tracking, stability, and easy paddling when you want to get to that special spot quickly. The large open cockpit offers easy entry and exit at the shore with little restriction of movement while casting and retrieving considering the 31" width. The improved DLX removable seating system allows for all day comfort on the water or allows easy removal of the comfortable padded steel-frame seat for a quick rest ashore. The screw out deck plate with integrated weathertight storage keeps smaller items high and dry. Dual flush mount rod holders make transporting rod and reel combos easy, while the fully adjustable, light tackle rod tender holds your rod while fishing with 360º of horizontal adjustment and vertical rod tip adjustment. Two 4'' cleats provide an easy anchor for a minnow bucket or fish stringer. Dual bungee paddle keepers hold your paddle securely while fishing. Bungees over the built-in multipurpose sternwell and bow help lock down your fishing gear while moving from spot to spot. Deep molded dual cup holders and two large catch all trays in the cockpit make it easier to keep the gear you use often close at hand. The threaded and sealed drain plug allows you to quickly drain excess water. Molded-over rubber grip handles at the front and rear make carrying the FS10 easier. One thing I love to do when preparing to make a purchase is read the reviews of the product. I read the high ratings as well as the low ratings. I did exactly that when getting ready to buy this kayak. When it arrived I knew what to expect, when I took it out, I knew exactly what to expect. I really cannot add anything else to what already has been mentioned. I can tell you this, I am in love with this kayak. I feel stable, it cuts through choppy water well. The first time I sat in the kayak (in my backyard) a rivet from the chair popped off. It didn't suprise me because I already knew that might happen from reading another review. It's minor and nothing a bolt can't fix.

I bought this boat after checking out, and talking to many people about, many of the others. After a few modifications (adding a fish finder, dual rod holders along the sides, and an anchoring system) this boat will do anything I ask of it. I have landed bass in the 5-8lb (big in Iowa) range with it and have landed catfish upwards of 15lbs. The boat is very stable and handles all of the waters that I take on (Iowa lakes and medium size rivers) very well. I went with the ten foot because it gave me the ability to easily throw it in the truck and handle it on my own with ease. With my tackle strapped in the back and a small cooler under the front, it is nothing to stay out all day. The seat is the best on the market! I am tall, yet the back support system allows me to remain comfortable for long periods of time.
With a rod holder on each side (mods) I have even been successful in trolling for walleyes. Huge plus to move from the single in the center to one on each side. I used Scotty holders on each side and used the spot that was originally designed for a rod holder to attach a Ram adjustable mount with my electronics.

It's hard to add anything to all of the positive reviews for this kayak, but I'm going to add my own positive experience anyway.
Prior to my purchase, I took both a safety class and an intro to paddling class. Both of those were in longer, recreational type kayaks. On those, I was trying to imagine how I could fish from them, since the cockpits were fairly small and primary stability seemed sketchy at best. The FS10 has a much more open cockpit, allowing me to keep a small tackle box between my legs without it getting in the way. It's also a bit wider, so it's more stable, especially when casting and reeling in a fish. I have not yet tried standing up in this kayak. I think I'd rather invest in an outrigger system for the added stability if I need to stand and fish.
As has been said before, the console-mounted rod holder is a bit on the flimsy side, so I removed it and installed a fish finder in its place. Removal of the rod holder was as simple as cutting the rivets on the underside of the console. My fish finder mount used 2 of the holes from the rod holder, and it was simple enough to drill 2 new ones.
The flush mounted rod holders are great for keeping rods out of the way while paddling, but they are still easily reachable, as is anything in the rear well.
Despite some people having problems with the side paddle holders, I didn't have an issue with my paddle. I also recommend a 240-cm paddle, since the boat is very wide.
The seat is very comfortable; I was surprised. One thing to note is that if you cut the zip ties that hold the seat in place for shipping (since the seat is easily removable), you will need to take the seat out during transport if your carrier holds it on its side or upside down. Otherwise, it will fall out.
The only real downside to this kayak is that because it is short and wide, it takes more effort to paddle than a longer, narrower kayak does. It still moves well, but if you have to do any paddling for distance, rather than just moving a small amount, it's really important to use good paddling technique or your arms will get very tired.
