Purchased two of these kayaks last year and have taken them both on rivers and lakes. The only problem with these is that they are heavy and require two people to transport them. They are very steady and my 65 lb. chocolate lab fits in the cockpit with me easily My 9 year old grandson can even take these out with no fear of captsizing..

I've owned my D-12 since Aug. '11. My buddy bought the FS-12 Angler model. Both are fantastic
kayaks. They track extremely well and are built very solid. They are pretty heavy but, are managable. I
pimped mine out for fishing (fish finder, flush pole mounts). I usually fish lakes but, sometimes salt water. The kayak loves flat water but, can be a bit
of a pain in choppy/windy waters although I have
never felt unsafe in this kayak. Everone says the seat is very comfortable and they're not kidding.
You can fish ALL DAY and still be comfortable! They're is plenty of storage and room to mount
more stuff. Couldn't ask for a better kayak for the money. I added performance as the only disadvantage because it doesn't glide to long after you stop paddling. As this isn't built for distance it's much, much better suited for fishing.

I have been kayaking on the Flint River for a few years now. It is a lazy shallow river with lots of rocks. The boat does great in less than a foot of water. It has lots of storage, which is great for camping, but you have to put rubber weather stripping on the bow storage to keep the water out. It is a little heavy, @ 75 lbs., for one person to have to carry w/ equipment for any distance. Last but not least, the removable seat is just a dream come true after 12 hours on the river. I wanted a Jackson Coosa, this is the next best thing @ half the price.

I am looking to buy a new kayak. I found the D10 Ascend models and then found them to be just a hair to short. I am not real tall, 6'1" 185lbs, but I just think for "down the road" one thats a little longer would be better. I have also been looking at the Old Town Heron 11XT and the Perception Sport Rhythm 11.My concern with the D12 is the 80lb dry weight with the others being ~45lbs. I like all the features and the reviews on tracking and stability. But I will primarily be useing this kayak for 3-6 hour leisure floats on local TN rivers/tributaries/creeks. We have a 10' Water Quest and i like the small size (terrible control haha) but fun.
Can anyone help me make a decision, because my friends are tired of the flip flopping.
Thanks

The 80lb dry weight goes second to the handlind and durability of the D12. I own two of them and they take a real beating with never a worry..A:Â
I just bought ( 2 ) A10 models. I'm 6' 1855lbs. When I'm sitting down in the seat, I have more than a foot of room left in front of my feet. I've attached a picture of my A10 that I've basically turned into a FS10.Between the A10 and D10, I didn't feel like spending the extra $100 on the front bungee kit, seat, and rear skirt. To me none of that was worth it to me. I outfitted my A10 to have everything the FS10 has for $60. The A10 is $299 and I think the FS10 is $499
