The D10 and FS10 have different carrying weights and maximum load weights. Since the FS10 has a higher maximum load and a higher carrying weight, is the FS 10 hull thicker?

Just bought a "new" D10. The hull is different from the FS10 currently offered. The version of the D10 I have is a "tunnel hull" design that is also found with the FS12 and the lower cost A10. It is best to see them in person!
The FS10 hull had lots of warping in the 3 showroom examples I looked at. Some of the D10s also had bulges but not as bad as the FS10.
The D10 and the FS12's "Tunnel Hull" seems a little more rigid due to the engineering geometry of the double arches (tunnel hull) on ether side of the keel line on the bottom of the plastic yak. The thickness of the plastic seems the same just a difference in design. I wanted to get the FS10 but $100 difference and the hull made me choose the D10 design. QA/QC your yak before you take it home!
I will be testing mine out on the Current River next week downstream of Montauk State Park in Missouri.

Hope this helps.

We have both a D10 and FS10. They seem about the same weight but i think the D10 seems geared for smaller size people. The FS has a wider cockpit and more leg room. My husband is 6'3" and does not fit in myD10. I am 5'5".

A:
The D 10 kayak is a basic design with fewer extras, the FS 10 is outfitted with more gear and capability. If you are really interested in fishing off a kayak, get the FS12T sit on top version, much easier to handle on the water, more stable, handles 25 more pounds of gear. The longer hull design tends to let you spend less time correcting for direction than a 10 foot model. The sit on top design is also much easier to get back on should you capsize, also no bailing it out like a sit in type.
