This is so comfortable and great on the water, I actually bought 3 of these. The seat is very comfortable and that makes all the difference. It tracks well and has lots of room. There is no hatch, but a dry bag works just fine. Living in Baltimore, they get lots of comments on the color (all 3 are purple)! You cannot use a skirt with these, but I don't ever plan to do any type of rapids. Really a good kayak for the price and if you're active or former military you can save 10%.

I believe I have had my Ascend D10 for about 6 months now. I've really enjoyed my outings with it. I bought it because of the wonderful reviews on this site and because it is purple. I wish other companies would make purple kayaks. I've been involved with a group of kayakers and with my paddling abilities (I just turned 60) and my kayak have stayed in the middle of the group most of the time. The canoes and 16 footers will always be in front. Another reason I liked this kayak is the storage area in the rear. I also like the screen cover. I'm able to store lots of gear and a bit larger cooler. The D10 tracks well. Someone mentioned a slight turn toward the right. Sometimes I have noticed that. This is a very stable boat although I haven't done any standing. Other kayakers always mention that they like the color, the paddle rests and elastic paddle positions on the sides, the cup holder and all the bungee lines. I'll be doing a little fishing in the future. I'm also gearing up for some overnighters. Most people haven't thought of kayaks at Bass Pro, but I think they did a good job. Oh yes, the guys that loaded it in my Expedition were exceptionally nice. Go ahead get one. It's really a great starter boat.

I have had this kayak for 2 years now and am still as in love with it as I was when I bought it. Easy to maneuver, great for fast or slow water, relaxing trips or more wild trips, and great to fish out of. The mesh cover in the back can be removed; I do this to fit another seat in it to take one of my children with me. The only thing I wish it had was a compartment that would keep water out to put keys, phone, etc. in but I bought a water bag for such things, so I guess its ok.

I shopped around for a while, and finally chose this kayak over a "bigger brand" (Perception Sport.) I'm not going to lie... the fact that it's purple did play a very small part in the decision.
However, it was the reviews I read... here and in kayak forums... that sealed the deal. I am a beginner, this is my first kayak, and I absolutely love it. It tracks really well, which many experts say is rare for being a "shorter" kayak. It's light enough that I can carry it myself, even with a bad back. The seat is very comfortable... and the price is great. What more could you ask for?
It seems, based on the reviews I've read, that this kayak isn't just for beginners. It is not one that you'll quickly grow out of, so that's another benefit worth mentioning.
