Ascend Canoe/Kayak Cart
When I purchased this cart, I knew that by pulling my kayak over unstable terrain that the kayak would likely fall off as it is not intended to be an off road vehicle.
It works perfectly for what it was designed for. Moving my kayak from the water to my vehicle and from my vehicle to my garage.
If I decide to take it on unstable terrain, I will let you know..........

Waist of money
I own A ocean Malibu two xl and A ascendD10T and the cart does not work for either one. you might as well take the straps it comes with and just throw them away and not waist your time with them because they are useless. I use a ratchet strap with it now and it works better but still not good, if you take it over any terrain that is remotely rough at all the cart will kick out from under the kayak dumping it and all you gear on the ground, its very frustrating..... bottom line don't waist your time and money on this cart!

Well worth the price
We planned a camping trip a couple of weeks ago and since the only campsites that were available were quite a distance from the canoe launch, I decided to purchase a dolly to transport my 16' fiberglass canoe. I liked this one but was hesitant because of all the negative reviews complaining that the dolly falls off the end of the boat. I decided to get one anyway and tried it in my yard. Looking at the canoe on the dolly it was obvious that it would fall off if I just wrapped the strap over the canoe. Because of this, I wrapped the strap under the seat while wrapping it over the canoe. The dolly worked great. Last weekend we used it at the campground. Our campsite was a good 100 yards from the canoe launch so I loaded all our gear in the back of the canoe over the dolly and had my wife pull the canoe, I was carrying a kayak. The trip from the campsite was down a rough dirt road and down a path with rocks and small cypress knees. Neither one of us could believe how good the dolly worked. That weekend we made four trips to and from the river and never had a problem with the dolly.

Needs more straps
Background: Bought my first kayak Ascend FS12T and grabbed this cart to go with it.
Loaded the kayak on the cart and started the 150 yard walk to the pond. Walking on level/flat terrain, it pulled fine but once it became a little uneven with ruts in the path and minor rocks the cart instantly kicked out and dumped the kayak. This left me very frustrated an a bit wore out from trying to get it back on only to dump it several more times.
Don't let my writing mislead you, but the terrain was not flat but not overly rough either and I expected a $60 cart to perform.
This morning I got on youtube and found the solution... get a longer strap and double it up so the cart can't kick out. Running a long enough strap around the front of the cart legs, over the rear of the yak and around the rear of the car and over the yak again will give it stability and keep it straight. Ended up using a 15' ratcheting strap and I hauled it twice to the pond in this fashion.
Simply put, it doesn't do the job unless pulling on straight and level terrain.
