A:
You may use a sit-in kayak in the ocean, however, you miay find that a sit on top kayak is a better choice. Sit-in kayaks will swamp if enough water enters the kayak, if you planning to kayak in an area with unsteady waters I recommend investing in a sit on top as these will not swap if excess water enters the kayak.

I use my D-12 in lakes and in the bays/inshore fishing.

A:
Get the D-12. I'm 6' and have plenty of
room. Personally I wouldn't recommend
a second passenger in a sit-in. But you
could fit your 5yr old in the D-12 for sure.

I'm 6'0 ft and have no problem. I probably wouldn't put a 5 yr old on my lap. I'm new to kayaking but from what experience I have so far, I think it would be too unstable.

I'm 6'1 and I would think you might be able to do this with the A10, but not the D10 with the foot pegs. The cockpit is pretty open so that isn't really the issue Just leg room but as I said, without the foot pegs that come with the D10, you would probably be ok.

A:
I am 6'2". I have plenty of leg room. Also the cockpit has plenty of room for a smaller person like a child. Just be cautious if you do take a child with you. The seat will "recline"but it does not have a "slide track" on it.

No. Kind of wish it did. One of the draw backs. Legs get a little stiff stretched out all the time.
