Ardent teamed with former Bassmaster Classic Champion and current King of Flip-N-Pitch, Denny Brauer, to design the ultimate flippin' and pitchin' reel. The result is the Denny Brauer Signature F-700 Flip-N-Pitch Reel which gives anglers the ultimate edge when ripping big bass from heavy-cover. A souped-up, beefier and more efficient version of Ardent's F-500 reel, the Denny Brauer Signature F-700 Flip-N-Pitch Reel features seven ball bearings and a flippin' switch which lets anglers use the reel in conventional or flippin' mode. Constructed with a strong, lightweight aluminum frame and sideplate sporting the Denny Brauer Signature finish, the F-700's narrow spool and large ceramic line eye reduces friction to allow for smooth effortless casts. The F-700 Flip-N-Pitch Reel is complete with a stainless steel handle, high-strength alloy gear and 22 lb. Perma-Lock Drag System, combining to provide strong hooksets and the power to pull fish out from heavy cover.

Rated 2 out of 5 by bigsteveo Great reel but it broke I wanted this reel for a while and I bought it even with the reviews suggesting a poor build quality. I got it and loved it right away, used it for an 8 hour day on the lake and it worked flawlessly. My second trip the reel locked up and the handle wouldn't turn without forcing it, I cleaned and oiled it with ardent reel care products and nothing. Im sad I had to return it to bass pro after 2 trips but I'm going to give it 1 more try before I give up. It works well when it does work... July 27, 2012

This reel is absolutely perfect for flipping/pitching...I was hesitant to buy one due to some bad reviews but I really loved the idea of the reel and wanted to see for myself and boy am I glad I did...not sure y anyone would give this a bad review...I have used many "high end" reels and this one out performs any of them for this technique...it is extremely smooth and the drag is second to none...the ease of pitching is phenomenal, my accuracy is dead on with it and I haven't missed a strike yet due to the fact that you can pitch one handed and the reel engages immediately...I have it seated on one of my E21 carrot gold stix (7'8" Heavy Action) and spooled with 50 Suffix Performance Braid...perfect for most heavy cover applications...if you're looking for the best flipping/pitching reel on the market, you just found it...Denny Brauer and Ardent really out did themselves with this one! Rated 5 out of 5 by Snake2 Best Flipping Reel This reel is perfect for flipping. The quality is fine. Once you oil and grease it new out of the box it becomes very smooth. The unique design basically makes it hard to get a backlash! You can skip it, flip it or pitch it with no backlash! I do not have a problem flipping other baitcast reels but this reel is just better than any other reel. It is not a light reel but the ease of use and amazing effectiveness and efficiency of just flipping as fast as you want and never having to stop for line maintenance is so much fun, I love it. The quality is not an issue. I bought three of them. I don't know why some reviews are suggesting otherwise. It is a flipping MACHINE! Buy it! March 2, 2012

Can it be used as a normal casting reel

Details:

i was wondering if it could be used as a normal reel and when needed, then the flip of the "switch" become a flipping and pitching reel.

You could use it as a "normal" baitcast reel if you wanted to but it is the PERFECT reel for flippin/pitchin...it does have the switch that allows you to put it in either mode...if you flip/pitch alot, this is the best reel by far on the market for these 2 techniques...hope this helped!

I have it seated on one of my 7'8" Heavy Action E21 Carrot Gold Stix and it's perfect for most heavy cover applications...go with whatever rod is comfortable for you but you def want to put it on something Med-Heavy to Heavy Action for enough back bone for flippin/pitchin
