Product is fine. The only thing you do not mention that you have to have a special size battery to fit this unit which I had to order from American Hunter. The 6-volt battery I ordered from you will not fit this unit.

I have bought 3 over the last 7 years and all are still in operation, I run my feeder year round in the florida sun rain and hurricanes and bears. Bears have destroyed 3 barrels but the SunSlinger still works.
Solar panel keeps the battery charged and the timer has amazing amount of control over the feeding settings, schedules. I does take about 5 minutes to set it up the 1st time.

The sunslinger is the best value out there. As all my other feeders have wore out we have replaced every station with this unit. The're super reliable and extremely easy to program. My buddies and I swear by them. No more messing with battery changes.

I own 7 Sunslingers some over 7 years old. I haven't had a failure yet. The original design was solid and I like the timer improvements over the years. Some of my Sunslingers have had impressive abuse and still function fine after some paint and body work.
The economics make sense. Original investment then very little maintenance for years.
I could go on and on.

I will be placing this unit on a hanging feeder loacated in a wooded area. need to know if it will run off battery. how much direct sunlite does it need to work on solar?Answers
A:Â
You need about 2 hours a day of sun hitting the panelA:Â
It will run offer a 6 volt 4.5 amp battery. Try item number 38-802-908-00. The amount of energy a solar panel can generate is it's peak rating (in watts) times the insolation averaged over an entire day (in hours), giving a value in watt-hours. For example:A 100 watt panel gets an average of 5 hours of good sun/day. It would generate 500 watt-hours.
