The barrel holds 225 lbs. and you will not need a ladder; the legs are adjustable.

We used a 6' ladder and had no problems carrying up a 40lb bag of corn to fill the barrel. Quick to set up and easy to fill. We also adapted 5/32" cables to the barrel straps and ran them out about 35' to surrounding trees and applied locks to keep surrounding hunters honest. Although the timer shows short, medium and long, we set it fairly short (about 5 seconds) anything more than that you will be spending tons of cash on corn refilling every couple of weeks and you won't be accomplishing anything more by setting longer spread times. We chose to spread once in the morning and once in the evening. (Within about 1 hour after sunrise and about 2 hours before sunset. Hope this info helps.Answers
