Overall an ok unit BUT....
The Wind Cups are on very flimsy arm extensions from the hub and will shear off in the lightest hail event. It may be a function of exposure of the plastic to the sun but my last set of cups lasted about 6 months. AcuRite doesn't sell just the wind cups so if your make a repair you must buy the top portion of the unit at a pretty high cost of $21.99 but as of now even that part is out of stock.
For over a hundred dollars I would expect a unit that can stand up to being used out of doors as intended.
There must be better choices.

Rated 4 out of 5 by silkcityflorida Good value unit, BUT
The first unit I received had some sort of problem with the rain collection bucket. Acu-Rite readily agreed to replace it although it took over 2 weeks due to a back-order situation.
It installed easily, and appears to be accurate. My only complaint is with the display unit. Black letters on a medium-to-darker blue background is difficult to read unless you are right next to the display. It would be nicer to be able to choose colors, e.g. white letters on a red background, or black letters on a white background. This would make the display much easier to read from across the room.
Overall, though, I am very pleased with the unit and would recommend it to friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CBJEEP Great weater center
This is a great weather center. I have had this for several months now. It is very accurate. The self emptying rain gauge is a huge plus, especially during the winter months. I would recommend this to anyone as a purchase for yourself or a gift.

Nice unit and easy to install, has great range and bright display. Very easy to program and lots of options. Well worth the money. Has features that stations costing twice as much don't have.

It should work just fine. I have mine outside on the opposite end of a steel carport and it travels through that and then several walls in my house perfectly.A:
Per the manufacturer: This unit should be accurate, even with a house that has steel siding. As long as the customer allows the unit to make a strong connection during initial set-up, there should be no problem with it interfering with the signal strength. If they experience any interference, they could try placing the indoor display near a window, where it is not blocked by the steel siding. ThanksDetails:
We had a small tornado that destroyed the outside portion of the unit that collects and transmits the outside weather conditions. I would like to just replace that outside portion.Answers

I've had mine for over a year now and the battery is still working great. I put in a good name brand battery when I bought it. I didn't want to go a cheap rout and have to replace the battery every 5 or 6 months.A:
The battery life in the units will approximately last 9 months to year. Your main display screen will have a battery icon that will flash indicating low battery. Otherwise you may see flashing temperatures. Also, please note we do recommend good quality alkaline batteries such as Duracell or Rayovac batteries in both unit for the best performance.
