Galileo Galilei, the pioneer of modern astronomy and physics, (1564-1642), discovered that liquids change density as the temperature increases or decreases. Based on this principle, the colored glass spheres inside the glass indoor Galileo Thermometer have been precisely weighted so that they respond to temperature changes. When the temperature rises, the liquid inside the Galileo Glass Thermometer becomes less dense and the colored spheres floating inside will sink towards the bottom. When the temperature of the room cools, the process is reversed and the spheres will rise from the bottom. One-year limited warranty. It's more than accurate, it's AcuRite.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CBJEEP Great Thermometer I bought two of these, the 20 inch one and the 13 inch one. I have always wanted one. I put the big on in my house and gave the smaller one to my girlfriend thinking she could put it up out of the reach of her cat. It is a very nice looking thermometer. Stands out in the room. It also works great. They take care packaging their product. It comes in Styrofoam which is then wrapped in plastic inside the box. The Styrofoam is taped all the way around to keep it from coming loose. January 16, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by JujuBS Never made it to me with liquid inside the item. I ordered this item as a surprise from Santa. It was shipped to my office. The box was not damaged, nor were the boxes inside so I sat them aside. As we wrapped them on Christmas Eve we noticed one was rattling loudly. We slid it out of it's decorative box--THANK GOODNESS--the inner package was shrink wrapped it was full of liquid. I guess this item should not be sent out in small packages. This is just "one" bad incident out of many good ones. I'm sure BassPro will work with us on getting another one. January 3, 2013
