Abu Garcia Revo STX Baitcast Reel
The best baitcaster
I own many baitcasters, and this one is the best no question. The drag is stout, so you can set a plastic worm or jig into a big bass without it slipping. The reel casts a mile, much farther than other baitcasters I own. Extremely smooth, and overall, just quality you can feel. I know there are many high end options from Shimano and Quantum out there, but I haven't regretted one cent of my purchase on this reel. Originally bought the 7.1:1 speed, and returned it because it was too fast. The 6.4:1 is ideal for bass fishing, and the speed higher than 7.1:1 makes me giggle, I wouldn't go there.

Abu Garcia for LIFE!!
I recently purchased the Revo STX and I was amazed at how well it preformed! This thing is a beast!! I was so excited to use it, I adjusted the braking system and headed out to the lake, forgetting to adjust the drag! I hooked a 3lbs 3oz large mouth on a baby brush hog and the fish immediately started to take drag. I was very impressed at how well the drag system worked, it was as smooth as the cast!! Not rough at all!! Once I adjusted my drag, the reel had plenty of power to crank the fish in. Definitely worth the money if you fish a lot. One of the best reels on the market, period!!!

Best reel in the REVO lineup
This reel is absolutely amazing in every possible way. It's super light, smooth as silk on the cast and retrieve, and the dual braking system allows you to cast any bait in any conditions. Abu Garcia has absolutely changed the game with the new Revos, and the STX is IMO, the best in the Revo line up. I own the new Revo S which is a remarkable reel for $129, and also the new Revo SX. These new Revos are just phenomenal. Buy the STX and you'll see what you've been missing.

stick with the gen 2
I bought the gen 3 stx with very high expectations. Don't get me wrong it is a very nice reel but it is definetly a bit of a downgrade from the gen 2 stx's. My gen 2 stx's are tanks and frankly in my opinion somewhat of a standard bearer for low pro baitcast reels. I buy revos for their versatility from bass to pike. They are pretty looking but don't feel as solid as the gen 2's. They corrected the boat rash issues and added new gears but I don't understand the facination companies have now with trying to make things as light as possible. They are lighter but I feel like they sacraficed quality in the process. I couldn't get near 20lbs of drag out of it with my scale. The guard over the line guide feels cheap as well as the thumb bar. If u are looking for strickly a bass reel it is nice but you have to crank down the cast control so much in order to throw heavy spinners or crankbaits. I was looking for a versitile reel b/c I have plenty of bassin baitcast reels but the new stx was not it. I took it back and bought the daiwa lexa 300 and I am about to get the lexa 100 soon. They are so much more solid and my lexa truely gets its 22 lbs's of drag. Its a solid beast. If u are new too revos try the gen3 revos line but having a couple gen 2's my self I was kind of dissapointed.
