Rated 5 out of 5Â by Rob311 Best bait-caster $$$ can buy...
I have used quite a few bait-cast reels and time after time I always come back to this one. I like it more than the more expensive Daiwa Zillion Coastal. I put it through some serious abuse in Galveston and it works as good as the day I bought it. It has been submerged in saltwater countless times and with very simple maintenance holds up fantastically. Don't waste your money getting a new cheaper reel every other year. buy one that will last and keep you catching fish for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by thefishslayer very good reel
I recieved this reel as a birthday gift from my girlfriend, i had been looking at them, anyway I am very pleased with it, I have used it in saltwater caught 5-6lb range flownder and reeled one of them up a 20' bridge with no problem, the drag stregth is amazing.I also use it for bass fishing It casts very well even when only using a 6" worm with no weight, very accurate and hardly ever get a bird nest. The reel is silky smooth on retreive. I have 20lb Power Pro on mine and it will cast a mile and very accurate.

Reel is outstanding. Used it wading the Lower Laguna Madre for the last year, I have not had a minute of trouble with it and have no complaint about its performance. I still care for it like my Curados but stays smooth and gives me a piece of mind.

This is the best baitcasting reel i have ever purchased. It is extremely smooth and quiet. I purchased to use on a St Croix 6'6" Tidemaster inshore. A very nice combination for casting up under the docks and mangroves.

I would choose the Inshore model very smooth and plenty of drag the only down side to this reel is that it doesn't have the brass gearing like the STX but overall a good reel with plenty of line capacity.A:Â
I think it would be great for striped bass. I say this because ther simular to reds as far as the "fight" and have had no issues bringing in reds that are way over slot [36" to 42"]Answers

Is this reel good for swimbaits and other heavy freshwater techniques (flipping, jigs ...) has well as for saltwater ? What braid would you put on for that use?Answers

A:Â
Yes it would be ok for that as well but if you are not fishing salt water try the Revo Toro better suited for larger plastic baits.I would use 50lb braid.
A:Â
swimbaits, yes I use light mirror lures to heavy yo zuri's...I will use 8lb. for specks and 12-14 for red's.A:Â
I use in saltwater mainly with 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz jig head and swim baits and I have no complaints. I wade fish for the most part so it does see a fair about of saltwater (not just spray). I do use corrosion X and rinse them out after every wade. I also break them down and clean 2-3 times a year as well. I just do not think any reel will hold up to saltwater with our serious maintance.Details:Â
Does the reel come with the sun glasses that are free? i don't know if bass pro shops does that.Answers

I know that Abu Garcia at one time had this offer I just don't know if they are still offering it I don't think its a Bass Pro promotion.Details:Â
Does this reel have a cast control system? I'm assuming no or it would say soAnswers
Top 500 Contributor
A:Â
Like all baitcasting reels it has a casting control brake I think it uses a centrifugalbraking system instead of the magnetic like some of the other Revos with out it you would be spending your day untangling
backlashes instead of fishing.
A:Â
No, but the spool drag is well designed and does the job very well. Once its set long cast and very few backlash issues.A:Â
It has internal brake system on the side cover that is accessable with a thumb screw. No magnetic control, but less exposed parts in saltwater is a good thing. Between the internal brake and the mechanical brake, it adjusts fine for me.A:Â
as good as this reel casts, you do not need the other brake, it has one adjustable one and that is enoughAnswers

Yes you can get it in a lefty.A:Â
Yes it does google itTop 500 Contributor

yes. The 2010 Revo Premier may be worth taking a look at as well, though not having bearings in the handle may be more desirable for a saltwater reel. The longer handle on the inshore is really nice as well.1 of 1
