Rated 5 out of 5 best inshore reel on the market My revo inshore handles great I can make spot on casts. It gives me the power I need to bring up my catch. It fits nice in my hand and is light after a full day of fishing and cleaning my revo is no problem...thank you abu October 6, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Turn Heads/RipLippps This reel is a bad a** mofo! I use this reel when I am fishing for local calico and yellowtail fish out in the ocean. It comes with a power handle that is very easy to change out. This comes in clutch when a nice fatty yellow is on the other end. The drags on this little reel is great and will handle it. I also love to use this reel to rip spinnerbaits though rough muck when i am trying to rip some lips for Largemouth Bass fishing. You can use it for all applications. This reel you can wing it a mile and it is very smooth even after using in the ocean. I would recommend this to anyone that loves to fish for bigger game. You will not be disappointed with the reel!!! October 6, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Reel Have three of these, bought after boat was broken into and relieved of my old reels. I could not be happier with the performance of this product. Use them for 14" speckled trout to 30 lb. redfish with no issues. Even caught a monster alligator gar 6' in lenght. I will be adding a few more of these to the boat soon. September 30, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fish had no chance lightweight and ease of cast, easy adjustment on the fly if nesessary. Dose not fowl in mud or sand no bird nest tangels. Reel is compact and all adjustments aer easy to locate in the heat of battle, the best shore reel I've owned in 35 yrs September 7, 2011

I would choose the Inshore model very smooth and plenty of drag the only down side to this reel is that it doesn't have the brass gearing like the STX but overall a good reel with plenty of line capacity.

I think it would be great for striped bass. I say this because ther simular to reds as far as the "fight" and have had no issues bringing in reds that are way over slot [36" to 42"]

No the Revo Toro is a much bigger Reel
the Inshore would be a better casting reel with lighter baits.

A:
Yes it would be ok for that as well but if you are not fishing salt water try the Revo Toro better suited for larger plastic baits.
I would use 50lb braid.

I use in saltwater mainly with 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz jig head and swim baits and I have no complaints. I wade fish for the most part so it does see a fair about of saltwater (not just spray). I do use corrosion X and rinse them out after every wade. I also break them down and clean 2-3 times a year as well. I just do not think any reel will hold up to saltwater with our serious maintance.

A:
Like all baitcasting reels it has a casting control brake I think it uses a centrifugal
braking system instead of the magnetic like some of the other Revos with out it you would be spending your day untangling
backlashes instead of fishing.

A:
No, but the spool drag is well designed and does the job very well. Once its set long cast and very few backlash issues.

It has internal brake system on the side cover that is accessable with a thumb screw. No magnetic control, but less exposed parts in saltwater is a good thing. Between the internal brake and the mechanical brake, it adjusts fine for me.

as good as this reel casts, you do not need the other brake, it has one adjustable one and that is enough

A:
yes. The 2010 Revo Premier may be worth taking a look at as well, though not having bearings in the handle may be more desirable for a saltwater reel. The longer handle on the inshore is really nice as well.
