Matched this with a Med Hvy Veritos Abu Garcia 7ft rod.. Used it at Okechobee for a full weekend of casting. The drag system is awesome. Hauls the large bass to the boat with no problem... used it for casting and flipping with 80 lb braided line.. Reel worked flawlessly. Great choice if you can swallow the cost of purchase, not a low end reel But what I needed for Fresh and Salt water.

Love the reel I use for bass here in California casts so far smooth retrieve. I also use it for saltwater in Monterey bay for rockcod lingcod halibut and salmon and with the powerful drag I have confidence I can crank up almost anything. My buddy has one on a 7'6" inshore trigger rod he uses for calicos sandbass and yellowtail in southern California. In such a poor economy do yourself a favor get this reel u can use it in freshwater and saltwater u don't need two setups save your hard earned money makes sense dual applications
