this reel realy does perform well, its light casts well and has a good drag. however if you are like me and expect your stuff to last longer than 1 year than this real isnt for you. ive had the reel lock up 3 times, studder when casting and now it doesnt cast consistently. i talked to a abu rep and he simply said the reel is worn out. sad that a 130 dollar reel can wear out in such a short amount of time but i guess thats the way it is with these abu reels.

Want a bullet-proof workhorse of a reel that you can hand down to your grandkids and them to their Grandkids? If so, this is THE reel for you.Small, lightweight, smooth with a fantastic drag = Big Fish to the net! Proof? Glad you asked! 3/16/2013-St John's River, Fla. 3:33pm.- Shiner fishing and all heck breaks loose when a Bass (10lbs.8oz.# nails the shiner and I nail him/her with a hard hookset not be believed. Should have broke the Bass-Pro rod but it did not happen. Bent almost tip to butt but the drag on this reel kicked in, kicked the butt of the Big lady and gently slowed this Big Girl down and eventually to the net.My fish of a lifetime and a dream come true. Pics taken and released to fight another when she is 15lbs. I hope. Later the same afternoon a 8lbs8oz. came gently to the net too. On both fish drag was put to the extreme test and performed flawlessly just like I expected Agu Garcia products to do. Unless you use C-4 plasic explosive, or run over it with an 18 wheeler loaded, you cannot destroy this reel. Parts are always avail. for my older Abu baitcasters but I have never needed them....nothing ever needs reparing. I just bought my 2nd Orra yesterday from guess who? You are right if you guessed Bass Pro. The only place to shop for high quality gear at a fair price with your satisfaction guaranteed. BUY THIS REEL.....and you can't go wrong! Mac the Marauder sez so...so it must be true and it reelly is!!!!!!! Fish #Bigger Bass) are biting somewhere and I'm not there....yet! Happy "dealin' & reelin' ! Abu Garcia + Bass Pro + Monster Bass + landed fish = Happy you!!! Marauder sez so! Enjoy! Cheers! PS: No,This is not a fish story and it is true. Tried to upload a photo but too big a file just like my Bass! Sorry!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Moonraker Excellent, superb reel for the money.
I purchased the reel last week and used it for salmon fishing from a pier and landed one of 20lb, then this last Saturday landed one of 30lb, this reel handled them no trouble, really impressed.

Which reel would you prefer for a crankbait, a topwater, and a texas rig outfit?Answers
A:Â
I use the Orra Sx on all three styles of fishing. The Orra Sx will cast far and is also great for flipping. It is enough reel to burn a cranbait, walk a topwater or pull a bass out of timber.A:Â
I don't know about the Shimano Caenan, or the Quantum Kinetic, but I know two Orra SX's that didn't hold up to throwing my top water and crankbaits. I can't tell you which one to go with, I can just tell you which one NOT to go with. Now, your down to two choices if you heed my advice. Good LuckAnswers

Yeah it casts far.... depends on your ability level with a baitcaster... I love the reel...Top 250 Contributor
A:Â
Yes, well that is yes in that it can. It really depends more on the rod, line, lure and skill of the caster. If you are looking for a reel that is going to provide some additional casting distance over other standard reels I would recommend looking at a few of the new Ardent reels. They have a new feature that lets the reel guide move when the spool moves during drag, and that keeps bends out of the line and should in theory let you cast a little smoother/farther.Details:Â
I don't see a left hand version of the high speed version. Is this even made? If not will it be a future product?Answers

Unfortunately, there is not an Orra High Speed with left hand retrieve. Also, we do not have information on future stock availability for this item. Thank you!Details:Â

Depends.... I love the Orra reel... it is a Great pitchin reel and I just bought a second one for a cranking rod... works great... I would say if you really need two reels the go for the silvers.... but if you want to upgrade go for the Orra.... there is a differanceDetails:Â

I have had my first Orra for a year and a half now and it still works flawlessly... my second Orra is a month old and seems to be doing just great.... I fish for bass and do alot of it... not sure what would happen if it was used for bigger fishDetails:Â
i was planning to pair this with a 7' heavy abu garcia verdict for topwater frog fishing and for pitching and flipping jigs but i am wondering which reel would be better for that application. revo sx or orra sx?Answers
A:Â
Orra would be a better reel it is amazing for short and long pitches I use it a lot for pitching and top water I also have that rodDetails:Â
Do you engage all the brakes for everyday use....only the pitch brakes...only the brakes not marked "pitch"? The reel didn't come with a manual and the You Tube Abu Garcia videos on the subject don't help at all.Answers

A:Â
When I am pitchin tubes or worms I engage the three marked pitch and it works great, if I need to change and do some casting I take them off... it is a great reel for pitchin.... I have it loaded with 17lb. P-Line Flurocarbon.... works GreatA:Â
i personally keep mine on pitch all the time as far as i can tell from using it it dosent seem to hinder its casting ability.Top 250 Contributor
A:Â
I used the other brake, I use one of two depending on the wind conditions.Top 500 Contributor
A:Â
You dont need to engage the non-pitch blocks. They are spring loaded and will automatically come out and apply friction at high RPMs then retract once the RPMs drop. The only time you would want to turn on the pitch blocks is if you are pitching/flipping or casting in strong wind. Otherwise, just leave everything alone and they will do what they are designed to.Answers

I use it to fish weightless flukes and worms i use 12lb mono cast greatTop 1000 Contributor
A:Â
I used 17lb. P-Line Fluro on mine... I use it on my pitching rod it it is greatA:Â
I would recomend 10-12 lb test. The reel handles ok in my oppinion anything above 12.Top 250 Contributor
A:Â
10 or 12 lb Excel is good for light line techniques like jerking or cranking. 14 for medium topwater, worming and jigging. For heavy stuff 17 or 20 fluro and 50 or 65 lb braid for frogging or slop fishing. So choosing one line that will do it all is almost impossible now a days with all the lures we use.
