Rated 5 out of 5Â by Cobiakiller Alphamar 20 For Billfish
Took A winter trip to Cabo and use the Alphamar for striped marlin both trolling and live bait casting. The reel worked flawlessly. No problems with the preformance of the drag smooth release and take out of drag. Spooled the reel with 50lb. Dyneema with a top shot of Flourocarbon. The reel held 600 + yards of line. We caught 23 Striped Marlin during the week, half were caught using the Alphamar reel. Great reel great looks with high quality brass gears and superior drag.

If I were to fish for a world record cat I would use something larger. Fishing for 20-30# would be right in the middle of this reels sweet spot.A:Â
This reel can handle any big cat. I think it is going to be the new standard for big cat reels.A:Â
I would try it. When catfish aren't biting try anything. They are usually attracted to stuff that stinks so why not. I didn't use this type of salmon eggs. But I remember using Balls of Fire, salmon eggs and I caught a 7 pound flat head. Just put like 3 on a 1/0 hook and see what bites. Good LuckAnswers
