The reels looked nice but the handle on 1 was not working right so I mailed them back. thanks

I have used Abu Garcia products since i was a child. Never had any issues until now. It seems that the main gear in these reels is not very strong. I purchased two of these reels - one for me and one for my youngest son. On the same trip both reels failed and it appears the main internal gear is striped. Hopefully I can get this fixed, but I am afraid it will happen again. Abu please strengthen the internal gear. I don't want to buy another brand.

bought this reel a couple weeks ago. have used several times and had alot of trouble with the line getting caught in the inner shaft. had to take apart many times to get get line out of shaft. I will keep the reel and and use for short fishing in creeks. like my Johnson century much better.

I bought two of these ($55.00 each). They are made with sub-standard materials. They even corroded wiht fresh water only use. Bass Pro should remove them from their stores. **** In the late 70's I purchased an Abu-Matic 270 and has never failed! I am very disappointed in Abu-Garcia.

This question was net really answered the first time it was asked...... Is standard monofilament line OK to use with this reel? ... Also, it looks like it "sets low"... I am looking for a reel to put on a new 6 1/2 foot MH Ugly Stik rod I got for Father's Day" Would it work/fit OK on this rod ?

I mounted one on a 6.5' Ugly Stik and it works great. Remember, replace the Berkley FireLine with a good line. the supplied Berkley FireLine is junk!

Standard mono line will work fine with this reel. The 1276sli is identical to the 476i in every way other than a few more bearings and a little more titanium on the 1276.The point of this being that the line capacity ratings of the 1276 with mono would be the same as is listed with the 476 with mono line. That being 120 yds 10# , 100 yds 12# & 80 yds 14#.
Assuming that your new Ugly Stik is a casting type of rod with a trigger it will work well with the 1276sli reel.
15 # Tuff Line Xp braid, 14# Stren braid as well as other brands that I have not tried with it will work very well with the 1276. That will just about give you a lifetime of use from the line. For best fishing the braided line could be used with an appropriate leader. Then you will never have memory problems with your line. I did not like the "superline" that came with the 1276 at all and imediately replaced that line with the Tuff Line.

The 1276SLi and its twin the 476i are both rated for fresh and salt water use.Also for your information; both reels will also function very well with 10, 12, 14 or 15 pound test monofilament line.

I don't believe that this reel has been truly designed with salt water in mind .I have two of these and they are good reels. As far as spincast reels go they are fantastic bass reels . Having said that I wouldn't be afraid to use it salt water fishing. Just make sure to rinse thoroughly with tap water and relube after each use. All spincast reels only last so long under hard use anyway.This reel will serve you well for awhile.I would like to say that there are alot of higher end baitcasting and spinning reels designed specifically to be fished on salt water that will hold up much longer. They will need attention at the end of the day also. If you choose to buy this reel then be sure to check out my review of it . It will give you some valuable information to save you a possible major headache.Hope that helps you out.Good luck!Answers

I purchased the Zebco Bill Dance triggerspin for my son and we do a lot of Smallmouth fishing. I like the casting and action on it. It does not appear to be junk but we also have not had a fish on it yet. I am up in New York and we are about to get 8 inches more snow.

This reel is advertised as a braid reel. Don't believe the hype.We used 15 pound braid and it tore up the inside of the spoolcap, leaving behind shavings that I had to take the whole reel apart to clean out.The cap had to be polished smooth with a dremel.But having said that once we changed it to P-Line Floroclear 12 pound test this reel is really a awesome little spincast reel. In fact my mother claims it's the best of all time. If your using braid now take off the cap and look for shavings inside the cap. Good fishing!Answers

I want a long handle casting style rod to go with my 1276SLi and I've tried 2 rods and neither will mount this reel but both rods will mount my new 170I. One is an Inshore Extreme and the other is a Cabelas XMLTI. The only rod I have that the 1276SLi will attach to is my short handle Bionic Blade.Answers

We have ours on the regular BP Extreme rods and they fit great. They really are great rods for the price. I never tried the inshore rods but I suppose it's possible that it could have been defective. If you check this web site regularly you will catch these on sale for 59.99 about 3 times a year, and as far as I can tell on sale in Dec. every year. Hope that helped you .A:Â

This is a good reel for squidding. You may do better, though, if you opt for the underspin version of this reel - same as this reel except it hangs under the rod like a spinning reel. I have used this kind of spincast reel for squidding, though it is much better from a boat. If you are casting from shore or fishing off the pier or dock on foot, an underspin will not be so hard on your wrist. Bass Pro sells excellent ones called the Zebco 33 Underspin, or the Zebco 22 Underspin. Both great for squidding.

Squid fishing should be no problem. This reel is rated to operate with 14 pound test line. It is listed as being suitable for use in both fresh and salt water.It will land a 35 pound plus northern pike so it should handle a squid. If in the long run this reel did not work out with the super line. It is the same reel as the 476i with a little more titanium and more ball bearings. It will work very well with 10, 12, 14 or 15 pound mono line as with its 476i twin.
As with any new reel, service it before you use it. Most new reels come out without being properly lubricated.
