Rated 1 out of 5Â by GuyS Can't Use Them
After reading all the prior reviews I still can't use these chains on the old style API Grandslam. These are 3/4" chains and as per API the old style were 5/8". API says they don't have access to the old style (5/8") chains anymore either. If you have an old style (mine was purchased in 1995) these chains will NOT work.

These chains are a good fit. The small plastic portion isn't necessary and doesn't take away from "newness" at all!! I have a brand new climber even after 7 years!!

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Treestand2011 Plastic inserts are Cheap
The chains are great but the plastic inserts are made of thin cheap plastic and broke the first time I used them.

the chains seem better than the original ones that came on my api climber... but the new inserts one broke while putting the four in the other 3 broke while climbing tee...would recommend not even bothering putting them in

is this chain the same size as the 350lbs. stand?Answers
A:Â
These are the smaller diameter chains. I think you may need the magnum chain. But be careful because some of the large API stands used the smaller diameter chains. I have one of those and the new plastic inserts don't fit very well with them. I think only the Magnum stands used the bigger chains.Details:Â
I've seen the rubber replacement chains in outdoor shops before, but bass pro is advertising these as vynl....does anyone that has recently ordered these exact ones have any input?Answers

They are super tuff form-fitting, vinyl-covered power-gripping chains.A:Â
I believe it is a clear vinyl. It is stiffer, thicker and tougher than the old black rubber typeA:Â
These apear to be a thick vinyl, with a rubber texture. They are much better than the old black plastic shrink wrap.A:Â
The ones I purchased last week have the rubberized coating, not plastic coated like my original...which cracked over time. Rubberized replacements much better in my opinion.A:Â
I bought these a year ago and they were awesome and have hardly any wear. The second ones I got this year for another stand are ok...but the plastic replacement inserts broke on three out of four during use. It all works fine and is safe, but it may cause more wear.A:Â
I just received my replacement chains and I like them better than the originals. I recommend these chains as replacements. I've been using my API bowhunter climber since maybe 2000 and really like it.Details:Â
I see bonebrown found some upgraded chains and was wondering where to get them if these are not the upgraded he talked about.Answers

They are the super tuff form-fitting, vinyl-covered power-gripping chains.A:Â
Yes these are the improved chains.A:Â
I believe that these replacement chains are the up-graded version from the originals that I received with my stand about 8-10 years ago. I like the chains better than the originals and the coating appears far better.1 of 1
