When i bought this rest the first 20-30 arrows i shot the bottom bristles on the right side only were wearing away. What can i do to prevent this? Archery season is right around the corner and i need to know if i need to get a new rest.

The archery professional at Bass Pro Shops showed me how to place the arrows when I purchased it. The Fletchings fly inbetween the bristles. If they don't line up, adjust your nock on the arrow.

Other than an very noticeable defect, which is probably not the case. It sound like to me that the windage needs to be adjusted on it. The brushes should be even on all three sides. Hope this helps.

NO ADJUSTMENT

Details:
I BAUGHT THE HOSTAGE ARROW REST AND THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT TO MAKE IT HOLD MY ARROWS IN PLACE. IT SAID ON ANOTHER WEB SITE THAT THEY ARE NOT COMPATABLE WITH EASTON AXIS ARROWS . COULD YOU ENLIGHTEN ME ON THIS. MY WIFE SHOOTS CARBON ARROWS AND THEY ARE EVEN NARROWER THAN MY ALLUMINIUM EASTONS.
THANK YOU

A:
The Octane rest is not a great rest the concept is nice but the bristles melt quick and as you stated it doesn't fit smaller arrows well. Try a drop away arrow rest and I guarentee you will not be dissatisfied! I have the Qaulity Archers Designs HD Pro Ultra I bought it after using the Octane pro and I wish i would have all together skipped the Octane. I also shoot the smaller diameter axis arrows and it works great for me.

Hope that helps?

See review by JameyG. The use of the brass washers makes the brushes contact the arrow, holding it firmly and seems to help accuracy.

You should not be able to see any space between the brushes and your arrow shaft. However, you have to be very careful about how tight it is because if the brushes are too tight then they will were out quickly. The best thing to do is square your rest with the arrow only resting on the bottom brush then tighten the top two brushes down until you no longer see any gap between the brushes and the arrow.

There are three brushes in a replacement pack. Be sure you order replacement brushes for the "Hostage" rest and NOT the "Hostage Pro" rest (unless, of course, you do have a "Hostage Pro" rest).

I usually keep at least one replacement set (3), If I can I'll keep two. But I always try to keep extra parts, tools and gear for my main equioment.
