I have the same Fish finder i used those plastic straps to mount it to the top securely. The top of the mount doesnt have holes and the thing is made of steel and would take forever to drill holes in it. So a simple solution is to just use those straps once secured you can turn the fishfinder the other way and once mounted the fishfinder is adjustable ,you can turn it to your position.
Fits perfectly on my Porta/Bote

I don't think it would be that tough to remove. You could just unscrew the part of the mount that holds the fish finder from the part of the mount that is on the boat. When I say "unscrew" I mean just turn the knob that you would loosen to allow the fish finder to pivot on the base. Very simple to do and would take minutes.

It is very easy, there is a plastic washer that you have to be careful not to drop or loose.

A:
It should mount up fine. The base plate has many pre-drilled holes. Can't guarantee all will line up but a drill will make short work of it.

A:
You will probably have to drill a new set(4) of holes in your boat for the base, but on the top side there is dozens of holes in the mount for many styles/brands of units.

The base has many pre-drilled holes. It's just a matter of them lining up with your mount.

A:
No vibration properties built in to this mount but it will handle your 1197 with out worries. It is built VERY Stout. The knobs tighten to hold as you want it set even in rough water and the base can be removed very quickly for inside storage of your sonar.
