Yes.............I use for all sizes of trout and the only problem I ever had was on small trout with their smaller mouths so solid placement in an ice hole is important.

It won´t hurt the fish any more than the hook that caught him, but lets face it, he´s being hung by his "lip", it´s gotta hurt some :)

I don't use it when I have lip-hooked a fish. It is perfect for those deep hook sets that you simply can't get out. It will not harm the fish. I had a bass completely swallow a six-inch worm along with the hook. I removed the hook, recovered the worm and let the bass swim away unharmed.

It is about 10 inches long if the tackle box is it were big then yes but anything small it probably won't fit

I have a Plano that seems to fit your description, It doesn´t fit, but not only for the length of the grip but the width of the metal side handles, I store it at the bottom with other random stuff.

Muskie and other fish tend to roll when ypu grip them. I need it to swivel so I wont injur the fish.

it doesn't swivel but i use the lanyard and let the gripper go it stays on my wrist and they can do their rolling

It doesn't swivel but I didn't have any trouble. Use the lanyard for security and if they roll you let go. The grip doesn't loosen until you want it to...

They come in sizes. If you mean a 100 pound flathead...I wouldn't put my hand in its mouth with or without the remover. But for us that catch "normal" catfish you bet

both units that I purchased worked right out of the package. Just grip handle and squeeze the "t" towards you. Sounds like yours might be broken
