A:
6.2:1 or better still go up to a 7. There are times when bass want it moving pretty fast, plus the speed allows you get 'em coming towards you quicker.50 lb. and up braid.

I fish mine on a 5.4:1 with out too many problems, but the 6.2:1 would be a better choice i believe. The slightly faster ratio would be my choice since it will help you get the frog to the surface that much faster.

A:
It depend where you are fishing, if you are fishing thick stuff like lilly pads, brush, grass, than you need a burner. My frog set-up is the following:

Curado 7:1, with a 7' heavy Action and 17lb mono.

You want to get the fish out of the cover as fast as you can. If you are fishing just shallow water, than the reel gears you mention will do just fine.

I fish it with a 5.2:1. I beleive it keeps it out on the water long to give it a chance to attract the fish.

If you want to top-water this toad use 6.2:1 or faster. My favorite way to fish this toad is to sweep it about 3 feet under water. with a 5.7:1spincasting reel on a 6ft pole.

5 to a pack and you will need to use an EWG hook or Zomm Horn Toad hooks and screw the spring lock into the nose of the bait and rig it Txsposed. Good luck and hang on tight.

I've used all colors and they all catch fish. If the water is clear, than choose the natural green, if the water is murky, than just pick one. The rage tail creates such a stir in the water that Bass can't resist it.

Fish these on a non weightless hook such as MOANER hooks 1/8 oz 5/0 Stroker hook.
The weight keeps the lure from helicoptering and will not keep them from coming to the surface.

It happens, but no worries, they still will catch fish. Remember, the splashes and the movement is what creates the strike.

to keep it from singing up side down use a big 5/0 or 6/0 hook, i like to add a little bit of weight to bend, but not to much that it sinks.
