I am buying for a gift, so I'm not quite sure if the remote to turn on/off is something seperate and if manually turning it on/off is a major problem for duck hunters..

It will say on the package if there is a remote, manual on and off isn't the issue, it's do you want to get up and shut it off and scare the ducks away or hit a button and stay hidden

if its just for duck hunting. no remote needed. if u hunt ducks and geese combo its a must have. geese will flare if mojo is running.
