ive got a Remington 700 .308 with a 26'' barrel and i have the 36" rod and it works perfectly, but you must get the bore guide to go with it, ive got the dewey and they work perfect. BORE GUIDE is a MUST!

Not if you get the long one, then it will work for even shotguns with long barrel lengths. But you may want to get yourself a jag kit.
