I use a bullet weight
1) slide bullet weight onto line
2) tie on off-setting hook (i use 4/0)
3) grab 5-6" rubber worm and pinch the top part and slide the hook between your fingers til you reach the 1st curve of the hook
4) push the hook out the side of the rubber worm and slide the head of the worm to the shelf of the hook.
5) pinch the worm about mid body and very slightly stretch to the bottom of the hook. (this will create a guide point where to insert hook for next step)
6) insert hook all the way through the middle of the worm (between your fingers where you stretched it)
7) I then like to pinch the worm again and just barely penetrate the skin of the worm (if you can imagine the worm having skin) and slide the hook upwards to make it weedless and almost impossible to snag...
>>>then cast away the weight will let the worm sink quickly and stay on the bottom just wiggle it a little bit (keeping a taut line) and reel a few feet and repeat... I have had so much success this way and its all i use now

A:
use strike king jigheads... buy multiple weights and colors cause if your fishing in cold weather.. a fast fall in the water will not trigger them... you want a slow fall because in the winter they are pretty slugish... but in the warmer months they want a fast fall...because they are more active... hope this helped
