They are great. They tend to get heavy when filled with water but you will not be wet...I've been out numerous times in the rain and still don't get wet...and they are still breathable....

My experience with the Bone Dry membrane clothing is that it is generally on par with Gore-Tex and Columbia's Omni Tech for waterproof-ness. I have become a believer. Also, the membrane breathes well - that it, it lets perspiration out.

I've worn this system bibs/parka, in sleet/freezing rain/snow. 100% waterproof. Only time moisture gets through is if i actually sit in a wet seat for an extended period of time.

I have both and they both seem about the same to me. I wear Squaltex when its warmer outside. I have been in downpours blown sideways and stayed dry but I dont know about colder weather. The BPS C.W.S bibs and parka are what I wear when its just above freezing and raining or when the snow is just pouring down. I have heard complaints about this system not being waterproof but I have stayed bone dry. So I guess it just really depends on the temperature/conditions you are going to hunt in.

Also, the BPS C.W.S. is way to heavy and warm to walk around in. They are for stand/blind hunting. You can remove the liner in the parka but you cant remove anything from the bibs/pants.......so once again it really depends on what temperature/conditions you are going to hunt in.

150 gram Thinsulate - very, very warm! Walking far in them will cause sweating! Put them on at the deer stand if you can, or a short walk from the 4 wheeler would be ok, too.

Details:
I have a 29" inseam but a tall torso. I stand 5' 11" tall and have a 42"+ waist and fairly wide shoulders. Fitting bibs and coveralls has always been a problem. What would you recommend for winter weather tree-stand hunting?
I'd prefer coveralls but have never found ones that fit both my inseam and torso length issues.

They will be long for you, period. And at a 42 waist, you migt be tight in XL. May have to go larger if you plan on wearing over pants with a belt. But if you plan on not wearing over pants, you may be ok. I have 38 waist and wear the XL comfortably over insulated pants, with belt and knife on belt. You may have to take the leap for a size and risk sending back. Otherewise, you can try on at a store location...

If you get the XL bibs they will fit your waist fine, and around the waist is elastic so it has some give if needed. They can also accomodate your torso because you can adjust the straps over you shoulders to fit you properly. The XL jacket should also fit you fine, maybe XL tall if you do have a long torso. I'm about 6'2", 225, pretty wide shoulders and bought XL tall for both. The tall pants are a little too long but they don't get in the way at all.

A:
I am 6'-1" 215lbs, thick chested and have a longer torso/leg ratio also. Typically 36" waist and 32" inseam with a 44"+ chest. When I tried these on in the store, the associate said the inseam lengths were the same for all Regular sizes and that seemed to be the case with what I tried on. The only way the length of the inseam changed was to choose Tall sizes. Otherwise, the only differences in the sizes are the waist size, length of torso, chest size etc. The Tall sizes will have the same chest, waist, etc as the Regulars but be longer in the inseam for bibs and longer in the back and arms for the parka. I wound up with the XL in the bibs and an XL Tall in the parka. The longer length of the XLT coat takes care of the torso and the adjustable straps on the XL bibs take care of the pant legs fitting to length on me. If I wore them snug at the crotch they would be about 1"-1 1/2" shorter than I like. I prefer to have the crotch a little lower to "let me breathe" a little so it works out good. Both the XL bibs and XL Tall parka are a little loose on me. The sizes run pretty true to the size chart numbers. My chest is at the max for large and by the time I layer, I am in the middle of the XL. Long story short - get a tall parka and regular length bibs and you should be good. Just measure yourself and compare to the size chart to get the right waist or chest, whichever is bigger. If you are near the top of the range for one size, choose the next bigger - you don't want them the least bit tight. Remember to allow room for the clothing you will have on underneath them. If you have on a belt or such, measure over it. Tightness ruins the insulation value. I have tree stand hunted with these down to about 0 F with windchills well below zero, and have not been disappointed. Very water proof but does abosorb water in the outer layer like some of the other reviews said. The insulation still does its job even when wet.

I am same size and got the XL to fit over base layer AND thicker insulated pants. XL should be OK for you.

I think I tried the L on at the store and they would have been fine as the only outer layer.

These bibs are warm. Have a plan for removing if you change from a stand hunt to walking around.

Cotton twill maybe? I think it's cotton, polyester, and maybe a little bit of spandex. Don't have them right in front of me to check. They are very quiet though. I've had a few different sets of bibs and jackets and these are the quietest.

Ya know, they're not totally quiet as the rubbing between (let's say) the arm and body could make a significant scrape/rub sound. All I can say is to be ready when the critters come into shooting distance (if within 20 to 30 yards).

Tags don't say what material it is, but I will say it's very warm, flexible after a few hours of wear, and lightweight. They're not bulky and are quite breathable.

lawton, I'm 5'-9" and 220 lbs. I purchased the Large size and they fit just slightly snug; however, they're flexible enough to conform after one hunt. I'm still very happy with mine. For you, I'd say to go with the Medium size, but also check out their sixing chart to compare yourself with my recommendation, but Medium sounds like a logical selection.
