A:
I believe 30 grains is the maximum from what little reading on the subject I can find. I have fired the Pyrodex 30 grain pellets made specifically for black powder pistols to good effect. I believe the recommended load is 20 gr, but no higher than 30. I also understand the steel framed pistols hold up to the higher loads better than the brass framed ones.

A:
Yes. However need to test fire the pistol first to determine sighting. Keep firing range to deer at or below 50 yards to ensure a successful kill.

Although your question is nearly 2 years old, I figure an answer is best provided for others who view.
Yes! It will definately kill deer. Keep in mind your range will be limited by the accuracy of the gun. My experience limits me to 35 yards, (basically bow range). The group size of the weapon starts to get too large beyond 40+ yards.

A:
30 grains (MAX) 3f black powder for a .451 daimeter round lead ball. Trick - load poweder, then use a little corn meal on top so that the lead ball is not seated too deeply into the cyclinder. This prevent the ball from having to jump accross to the forcing cone. It improves accuracy!
