do i have to have carpet?

Details: 
If I am redoing my bunkers, can I just install New PT Wood and add these glyde sliks, or will some portions of my boat still touch the bunkers? I see no reason to re-carpet new bunkers if I install these. Any ideas?

the way it looks if you screw down the solid side the screws will scratch the fiberglass on your boat

3 inch wide bunks

Details: 
will i need 2 sticks side by side to cover the whole surface of the bunk or is the 1 1/2 inch wide strip enough

If Its A Large Or Heavy Boat, I Believe I Would Use Two Slicks Side By Side. You Can Always Try One On Each Side And See How It Works. They Are Easy I To Install.
