A:
I don't know why the cover could cause any mechanical damage to the motor but the vibration will cause scratching to the painted surface at the rear of the buckle. I guess I just haven't ever seen anyone use them while running the motor. It could be a good protection from anglers with a bad aim with their lures while casting.

A:
You can run the motor with the cover in place as it is not a tight fit. But I would not recommend it for all of the time. If fishing in trees and you are worried about the engine getting scratched it can very easily be installed from inside the boat. The retaining strap is located on the front (toward the boat)

A:
Yes!! You can trailer your boat with the cover on if you choose but definatly remove it while in operation otherwise no air can get into the vents on the cowl.

It will stay on if secured tightly but can cause scratching from the back of the plastic snap buckle while trailering.

A:
Absolutely. The front retaining strap should be fastened underneath the wiring harness and then tightened to pull the cover down snug.

A:
I trailer with mine in place and it stays put because the fastener attaches just below the hose assembly and when you combine that with the snug fit it doesn't go anywhere traveling at regular highway speeds of 55-65 mph.
