A:
IF YOU LOOK UNDER THE PEDESTAL MOUNT AND THERE IS A NUT WELDED TO THE BOTTOM YOU CAN USE A THREADED POST HOWEVER IF YOU GET A NON THREADED POST IT WILL WORK IN A THREADED PIN BASE AND IT WILL WORK BETTER BECOUSE THE THREADED POSTS TEND TO CORRODE AND LOCK THEMSELVES FAST IF YOU DONT REMOVE THEM A LOT.

A:
my experience with pin peds is that the threaded end is 1/2 to 3/4 inch long and myself and my friend have just cut them off because they get tight from dirt rust or whatever and are real hard to get out. alight oil on the pin and it is easy to remove.with a flashlite you can see the threads on the end of the base or in my friends boat he can reach under and feel the threads. I have never lost a ped with just the pin, hope this helps

I like non threaded, they don't tend to stick. Advantage of threaded, it doesn't rotate-which is good for butt seat
